Building on the original cold‑polymerized petroleum resin, phenol is introduced during the polymerization process to modify it. The resulting modified cold‑polymerized resin bears phenolic hydroxyl groups along its molecular chain. This modification not only preserves the inherent properties of conventional C9 cold‑polymerized resins but also markedly enhances their compatibility with coatings, inks, and other systems, while improving the adhesion of downstream products to specialized substrates.
